Why, Hope from Daffodils:

I didn’t set out to write a book about the meaning of a flower—the story did that. What I discovered is the meaning of the daffodil: a new beginning.

Sophie Anderson, the main character, is a florist who suffers a great loss. The love of her life unexpectedly dies, and she is faced with a choice. She can stay in the pain, or she can break free from it by opening her heart to a new life, a new love, and a new beginning. She chooses that latter. After all, it is a romance novel.

A Time to Mourn

I’m sure you too have felt the pain of losing a loved one. It can be devastating, debilitating, and damaging to the soul. In time, we gradually wake up and go throughout our day, until we ultimately smile again. It seeps in ever so quietly: that pang of living a life without sorrow. Oh, we still mourn from time to time, but we move on with help from loved ones, good friends, council, or faith. Mourning is a part of a life well lived, for a lack of mourning means never having a love worth mourning, which can be as painful as the loss of love—think about it.

In any romance, there is the hope of two people finding each other through trying times, and overcoming the obstacles that face them, so they can live happily ever after. Can our real world lives be a fairy tale, in the sense that all things can be wonderful in the end? It seems a bit like fantasy land to think that way, doesn’t it? In truth, we too can live that fairy tale life. We can either choose to live a life of misery, or we can break free from it by opening our hearts and choosing a new life, where we can love and love others. It’s in the loving others that the magic really happens, so I wish for you to plant within you, a field of daffodils, where love can bloom and bring new beginnings and happily ever afters.

Hi Karen, we golfed at Rancho Las Palmas. 👍

Just finished Hope for Daffodills. It was a fun read! My first romance novel, so struggled through much of the dialogue on relationships and emotions. 😎 but thoroughly enjoyed mystery, legal and crime solving!

    Cheers,
    Brian
