REFLECTIONS FROM THE AUTHOR…

The sounds of the sea warm my soul and bring me peace, especially when my heart aches. With each crashing wave upon the shore, I’m able to release, be it ever so slowly, the sorrow I feel for losing those I’ve loved.

We don’t know how many days we will have with our loved ones, but I hope we spend the days we get cherishing even the tiniest gifts they bring, be it a smile, a hug, laughter, or even the sharing of tears and memories we’ve lived together.

When I first started writing Finding Home on Lilac Lane, I had my beloved brothers, Doug and Dan, to cheer me on, but before I could finish, I lost them both to illnesses. Moving on from sorrow to peace is hard when pain runs so deep, but that’s the way of life—we must move on knowing that there is a purpose for our lives and how we live them.

It’s true that we all experience heartache from time to time, but I hope that the words I put on the pages of my books lessen yours, even for a moment because this is why I write.

Your life was created for a purpose, as was mine…

With each word written in my books, my focus is to not only share a story worth reading but to be a catalyst to move my readers from where they are to where they hope to be. Perhaps receiving a measure of understanding, forgiveness, worthiness, healing, and acceptance might ping at your heartstrings, so that you may feel loved—whole.

So, as I sit upon the shore, with my feet in the warmth of the sand, I think of the people from my past and the present who’ve entered my life and brought me joy and encouragement. They’ve given me the gift of feeling safe, treasured, and comforted, which one feels when they are home.

Thank you, my dear friends, for allowing me, in the smallest of ways, to enter your home. May you feel the warmth of my heartfelt gratitude.

~Hugs, Karen
